“Sid lived at number one Aristotle Street. He also lived at number two, number three, number four, number five, and number six”- Six Dinner Sid by Inga Moore
Six Dinner Sid is a darling children’s book written and illustrated by Inga Moore. It is a story of a cat named Sid who lives with six different families. That means this clever cat gets six meals, six names, and six different beds. He even gets scratched in “six different places.” Since the neighbors on Aristotle Street never talk to one another, all six owners have no idea that Sid lives with other people. They all think he is “theirs alone.” It seems Sid has the perfect set up! Until one day when Sid gets a cough and he needs to go to the vet. What does that mean for Sid? You guessed it! Six visits to the vet! During those six visits, his whole scheme is uncovered. What will happen to Sid now?
–This story is so cute! Sid has such a personality. In fact, he has six! A different side of his personality comes out with each owner. And Inga Moore’s illustration’s really show off Sid’s different expressions for those six personalities. I love the illustration of Sid as “Scaramouche….who puts on swanky airs.” Not only are the pictures great, but the names are creative. They hold hints of mischief… Scaramouche…now there’s a name for a cat-like Sid!
–Inga Moore’s illustrations are colorful and charming. They make me want to live on Aristotle Street. I love the colorful houses, bay windows, trees, and cobblestone streets.
–The story is a funny commentary on cats in general. When Sid is found out by all six owners on Aristotle Street, does he feel terrible about his sly deception? Of course not! Sid just finds himself another street where he can mooch off of six new people. Why would he feel bad? It’s such a cat move!!
–A Happy Ending….I’m glad Sid finds a happy new life on a new charming street with trees, more cobblestone sidewalks, and blue lamposts.
Does he find six more people so he can continue to get his six meals a day?
Find the conclusion to Sid’s antics by reading this darling book!! Read it soon!
I know it will make you laugh!!
