Can Cats and Rabbits Get Along?

Yes! They Can!

My pet cat Grizzabella and pet rabbit Dasher are proof!

Does it mean she is crazy about having a rabbit running around disturbing her territory?  Not necessarily…lol..but in her own way, she’s learned to how to cohabitate peacefully with that furry “rodent” we imposed on her!

Good Times…

They just sit by each other and hang out!  I think they enjoy the company.

Some of these pictures are from our old house. We recently moved, and in the hectic stress of moving it’s obvious from this picture that they are a comfort to one another.

They play chase! They love to run up and down the halls. Sometimes Grizzabella sits and stalks Dasher like prey and then playfully pounces! Other times Dasher sits calmly staring at Grizzabella, then hops and makes a mad dash for her! Needless to say, it’s hilarious and adorable!

Not So Good Times…

Being a true feline, Grizzabella can get territorial–more so, territorial of me and my affections. When Dasher is hopping around the living room and dashing back and forth on the couches……which makes me oooh and ahh and just want to grab him and give him kisses…….someone doesn’t like it……….and you all know who…………

An overshadow of love and attention towards Dasher will create a slow careful walk towards the bunny….a disarming sniff ( bunny mistakenly thinks this is a friendly gesture …..) then when bunny is calm-whollop!!!!! 3 or 4 dukes to the head!  ( which has resulted in Dasher’s partial bald spot creating a mohawk )

Then, with a nose in the air, a confident saunter away from bunny back to her couch with a look that says, ” What? ”

How does bun bun handle it?

There’s a reason we call our Dasher the Dash Man!  He’s a man! He’s one tough little dude!! He just shakes it off and goes back to just hanging out.

In conclusion, like most pets, they figure out a way to live with each other…….and yes, even become friends!
