Dasher, the Dashing Floppy-Eared Bunny: A Children’s Story

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone is finding themselves happy and healthy in 2021!!

We at the Bowers household are staying busy burrowing inside most days staying dry from the windy, wet winter days. I am substitute teaching and working towards my Masters in Law. The class this term is extremely challenging. I have an essay due every week along with a lot of reading and discussion posts. But I’m really enjoying the class. It’s so interesting, however, it’s a lot of work!

Grizzabella is a good study companion!

With all the classwork I have, I don’t want to fall behind on my blog. This is so important to me and it’s such a delightful creative outlet. But I am slightly overwhelmed with writing at the moment since my class requires so much of it. Long story short, I thought this would be another perfect month to share one of my children’s stories I wrote a  few years ago. Last month I shared Dasher, the Christmas Bunny. Dasher loved all the attention, so I thought I’d follow up with the sequel: Dasher, the Dashing Floppy-Eared Bunny.

…Sorry Grizzabella, your time in the spotlight is coming soon! I promise!

Dasher and I hope you and any little children in your household enjoy this little story!

Dasher, the Dashing Floppy-Eared Bunny

Hi! My name is Dasher! Dasher, the Dashing Floppy Eared Bunny!  A lot of people think I’m the Dasher who works for Santa Claus, but I’m not a reindeer! I’m a rabbit!

I have black fur and floppy ears.  Everyone says my ears make me look very dashing,…that means very cute!I live in a big house with really nice people who really love me.  They also have a cat.  She’s like a big sister.  Sometimes she hisses at me and swats me with her paws.  But boy, I really like her!

My name is Dasher because I love to dash and run really fast!  I like to dash around the hallways, run around the tables, hop on the couch, and run back and forth and knock the pillows off!  Boy is that fun!

When I’m not dashing around, and if no one is looking, I quietly hop around and chew on furniture.  When I get caught, my mom points her finger at me shouting “No Chew! Dasher, that’s naughty!” Then she tries to pick me up and give me a time out in my cage, but she forgets why my name is Dasher.  Before she can grab me, I dash away as fast as I can!  Boy is that fun!

When I’m not being naughty, I love to play chase with the cat.  We chase each other all through the hallways and around the tables.  Then we stop and stare at each other, waiting to see who will run first.  Then we chase each other again! Boy is it fun!

When I’m not being naughty or playing chase, I love to eat.  I eat hay, fruits, and vegetables.  My favorite vegetables are celery, cilantro, and carrots.  My favorite fruits are apples and bananas. Sometimes when mom is eating an apple, I hop on her lap and she lets me take a big bite! Boy is that yummy!

I also like to sit in front of the fridge and bum Mom and dad for carrots!

Do you know what I love most though? I love snuggling with my mom and dad.  Sometimes they scratch my head and back.

Then mom picks me up and gives me kisses.  Boy, do I love that!

Naps with Daddy are the best!

And boy, I really love being Dasher, the Dashing Floppy Eared Bunny!!

The End

I’m pushing it…she may strike any minute!
