How to Let Mom Know You Are Happy She is Home: Tips from a Glamour Cat

“Needy Paws!! No! Off!…Not on my computer!!”

Too Late!!

Grizzabella loooves to have me home! Obviously, most cats love to have their human home with them. But Grizzabella really really loooves to have me home! She’s not quite the independent hard-to-get cat that some felines would boast of. Miss Grizzy has been given the title Miss Needy Paws for a reason.

Needy Paws gets really sad when I have to leave for a weekend. Very Sad!  And very whiny! (I get sad too Needy Paws). Lots of meowing and following me around the house when I’m packing. And swatting me with her paw when I walk by her on her favorite stool or the banister to head downstairs.

Miss Needy Paws can sometimes be Miss Angry Paws!!

However, even Needy Paws admits the rewards she gets when I get home are well worth the wait! Extra treats, extra snuggles, and a little extra patience from me, Mom, when Grizzabella climbs onto my computer nonstop as I’m trying to write. Which is exactly what she is doing right now as I’m trying to write this post!

Last time Grizzabella gave some advice, she was trying to halt and sabotage my three-day weekend down to Ashland where I had a bunch of singing gigs lined up. This time around, she wanted to give some advice on how to let your mom and dad know you are happy they are home, and they should never ever leave again!!

Take it away Needy Paws…(I mean Grizzabella!)

When Mom gets home, meow a lot! She will feel bad and give you a huge plate of food and let you eat wherever you please!

She will have to go to the bathroom right away since she has been traveling for many hours. You can join her in the bathroom by sitting on the bathroom shelf and stare at her. This will make her feel loved…and a little guilty that you are so needy!

When Daddy comes home, sit by him for a while. This way he knows you are happy he is there and you love him too!

When Mom and Dad sit down to relax and watch a movie, sit on Mom’s lap. This way she knows you are happy she has returned.

And in return, she will give you lots of loves! This is her way of letting you know she is happy to see you!

It also scores some points to gaze at her lovingly with Needy Paws’ adoration! (A look of half adoration and half panic. Trust me, it works!)Sit on her computer while she writes or checks her emails. She will be more patient since she has been away for a few days. Her words, not mine!!

At night, sleep on both her pillows and leave her only a few inches of pillow space. In other words, be a pillow hog. Mom thinks this is really cute!

In the morning, sit on her lap while she has coffee. Her bathrobe is very comfy!

Most importantly, relish every moment she is home!!

Love, Grizzabella
